New IMCW Center in Tenleytown

New IMCW Center in Tenleytown

By Hugh Byrne | Jul 1 2012

A small and growing group begins their day each weekday morning in June with a period of meditation at IMCW’s beautiful new, metro-accessible meeting space in Tenleytown. On Tuesdays and Fridays, people drop by to meditate anytime between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Building on this initial step, IMCW’s board voted this month to rent a larger space in the same building. This step will allow our community to host regular meditation classes for 30-40 people, as well as a variety of other classes—mindful yoga, qigong, mindfulness-based stress reduction—and meetings of specialized groups, such as Prison Dharma, Mindfulness in Schools, Spiritual Friends (KM) groups and more.

Build-out of the additional space will begin as soon as permits and approvals are obtained from the District, and we hope to be hosting classes in the larger space by Labor Day. We’ll also have a party in the fall to celebrate the launching of the new space.

We would love to hear from you the kinds of classes you would like to see IMCW offer, as well as the days and times that work best for you.

We hope you will take advantage of these new opportunities to practice in sangha, and help create a sanctuary of mindfulness, peace and compassion here in our nation’s capital. For more information, please see our Calendar pages on "Open Meditation, Tenleytown."
