Bhante Buddharakkhita July 8 Reception and Class in DC

On Sunday, July 8 from 3-5 p.m., leaders and practitioners from the District’s mindfulness community are invited to a private reception to welcome the Venerable Bhante Buddharakkhita and introduce him to some of the leadership and teaching efforts within the District. The event will also offer an opportunity for practitioners to learn about his work in Uganda and any lessons learned creating the Uganda Buddhist Centre which may apply to cultivating mindfulness practice within impoverished communities in D.C.

Also on July 8, from 6-7:30 p.m., Bhante Buddharakkhita will lead Sunday's IMCW All Soul's class with a meditation, and speak about his spiritual journey and the founding of the Uganda Buddhist Centre. He will also share remarks about the special relevance and unique challenges of supporting dharma practice within under-resourced communities, particularly communities of color. The meditation and address will be followed by a period for participants to ask questions about Buddhist dharma and integrating mindfulness into daily life.
