9.11 Weekend of Peace, Compassion & Forgiveness
By Editor | Aug 6 2011
Join Lama Surya Das, Sylvia Boorstein, Tara Brach and others Saturday and Sunday, September 10 & 11 at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre in downtown DC. Together we will mark the 10th anniversary of 9.11, honoring the memory of all who were who victims of that tragedy, as well as honoring and celebrating the best that is in each of us.
Mirabai Ceiba to Perform at September 11 Kirtan Concert
Teachers Jonathan Foust, Hugh Byrne, and Ruth King will help to offer us refuge from the media hype about the 10th anniversary, as they offer tools, guidance and perspective to help us connect with our true nature. Learn to live fully while honoring your highest good, and cultivate joy so that no matter what happens in this uncertain world, you are able to respond with compassion and true strength.
The weekend will conclude on Sunday with "An Evening of Peace and Devotion: Mirabai Ceiba in Concert." Enjoy an enchanting evening of beautiful and inspiring kirtan and world devotional music. Their concerts are group celebrations for peace—joyous and loving occasions that embody the duo’s profound belief in music as a universal language uniting all the world’s peoples, cultures and traditions.
Attend individual events, a whole day, or the entire weekend. We'll feature music, talks, meditation and films. The weekend is presented by BuddhaFest and is co-sponsored by IMCW, and the schedule and tickets are available at buddhafest.org.
We are still in need of volunteers to help us over the next few weeks, as well as on-site during the September 11 weekend. If you would like to help out, please contact us at buddhafestdc@gmail.com.
