IMCW 20th Anniversary Audio and Video

On Saturday night, October 28, IMCW celebrated the 20th anniversary of its founding. Ofosu Jones-Quartey, one of IMCW’s Family & Children Sangha teachers, acted as emcee and sang for the group.

Tara Brach, the founding teacher of IMCW, led the welcoming remarks and opening meditation. Two hundred teachers, board members, staff and community members enjoyed a tasty buffet by RSVP Catering. The group then watched a video including nationally-recognized teachers Joseph Goldstein, Jack Kornfield and Ruth King offer their congratulations to Tara and to the teachers, staff, and board of IMCW for playing such an important part in spreading the teachings of meditation and mindfulness throughout the West.

Sangha (community) leaders of the One Earth Sangha, Insight on the Inside (Prison Dharma), the IMCW Family program, Minds, Inc. (mindfulness in schools), the Affinity sanghas (People of Color/POC and LGBTIQ), the Mentoring program, the Teen Sangha, Women’s’ Sanga and the Spiritual Friends groups were introduced and each spent a moment talking about their activities.

Then La Sarmiento sang two of their famous odes to the dharma, and Ruth King led the community in a closing blessing and meditation. Old and new friends then continued to mingle until the night drew to a close.

We would like to thank the board members, staff, teachers, and volunteers who all helped to make this evening possible.
