A Collective-Awakening Vision for “IMCW 2.0"

What is the future of  IMCW? Where are we headed over the next 5 to 10 years? How can we best support each other in our ultimate goal of collective awakening? How do we truly become more diverse, equitable, and inclusive? What does it mean to belong to and contribute to IMCW? How do we need to evolve as the Dharma and similar teachings and practices evolve and mature? How is the teacher role changing and what do our teachers, staff, and volunteers need to support our mission? How will IMCW change as our leadership inevitably changes? How do we ensure our financial sustainability? How can IMCW operate more effectively as an organization? What is “IMCW 2.0?”

These are the important questions the IMCW community and organization is exploring. As a critical member of our community, we need your help in defining IMCW’s future vision and our collective awakening.

During the 20+ years of bringing insight practice to the Washington area, it has become clear to many of us -- the Board, staff, volunteers, teachers, and community members -- that it’s time for  our IMCW community and organization to grow and evolve.

IMCW is engaging in a deep visioning process aimed at creating the container and structure for the organization’s next stage, ultimately to support its promise of collective awakening. The process is designed to be highly inclusive, so that together, we may all unearth IMCW’s future possibilities.

Twenty-five teachers, board and staff members, dedicated practitioners, aspiring teachers, and members of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) Committee have come together as a Visioning Team to facilitate conversations across the IMCW community and learn what is important to those who make up the community now and in the future. The vision for IMCW 2.0 will emerge from this feedback from our community.

The Visioning Team will conduct focus groups associated with IMCW’s many classes, activities, groups, affinity sanghas, and other offerings and communities, so that we can hear from as wide a variety of community members as possible. You will be hearing soon from your teachers or group leaders about upcoming focus group sessions, and we encourage you to watch for monthly listings of focus groups being held in the newsletter’s In the Spotlight section. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to be part of defining IMCW’s future vision and our collective awakening!
