at Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, (4444 Arlington Blvd., Arlington, VA, 20817)
3rd Sundays, monthly. This class does not meet in July or August
For 5-12 year olds. (Other ages welcome.) The Family Meditation class offers young children a mindfulness framework to develop healthy responses to the ever-changing world around and inside of them. Children will learn how to express their innate qualities of being present with what is happening, respect for others and nature, loving kindness and compassion. Planting these seeds at an early age can reduce stress as well as sustain and nourish the mind, body and spirit for a lifetime.
Classes include lessons on basic Buddhist teachings, short meditations, movement exercises and hands-on activities geared towards developing mindfulness. Parents attend the classes with their children.
This class does not require a fee, but you will have an opportunity to offer dana. This is a drop-in class; no registration is required.
The IMCW Family Program aspires to bring alive the mindfulness toolkit for families in engaging and practical ways via our classes, daylongs, & retreats. Grandparents, parents, and children age 5-12 interested in cultivating greater compassion, presence, and resilience in everyday life are encouraged to participate. Founded in 2000, our program is run by families, for families. As families are the soil in which the future is planted. we are passionate about what we do.
