Topic & Description: Mindful of Race – Not There Yet!
Racism remains one of the most rooted and painful impasses of our time. It is fed through unawareness, the misuse of power, and an inability to sit with the truth. This talk explores the Racial Awareness Rubik™ and the Buddha’s teaching on misperception – what we forget but must remember.
Insight meditation cultivates our natural wisdom and compassion. Meditation practice develops concentration, which allows us to calm and steady the mind. This class includes 1/2 hour of Vipassana meditation instruction and guided meditation followed by an hour-long dharma talk. This is a large gathering of approximately 250-300 people.
No registration is necessary.
IMCW offers ASL interpreting on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at this class. Please email Glen Harrison, the class coordinator, to let him know if you are interested so that he can save you seats near the interpreter.
Newcomers to meditation and long time practitioners are welcome to attend IMCW classes. Chairs are always provided or you may bring your sitting gear.
