Mindfulness & Depression: A 10-Week Exploration
Wednesdays, October 4-December 13
No Class November 22.
When experiencing depression, the mind-body is no longer considered to be a safe place. "Looking within" tends to be the very last thing one is interested in doing -- it can feel too painful. However, science is proving that various techniques of meditation -- and there are many -- can significantly alleviate the pain of depression.
In this course, we will use the book, "The Mindful Way Through Depression" by Mark Williams as our guide as we explore mindfulness and yogic practices designed to help you feel like yourself again.
It is not necessary to have had any meditation experience to take the course.
This class is not intended to be a substitute for therapy, nor does it seek to treat depression. Its intention is to introduce mindfulness tools that can be used alongside one's current treatment plan.
