Talk topic: Self Compassion: Tending to the Boundless Heart
How do we meet the pain -- both physical and emotional - that inevitably arises in our lives? When the heart meets pain and suffering, its natural response is compassion. For many of us, offering compassion to others is far easier than offering it to ourselves. But every person has the innate capacity for self-compassion and it’s something that can be nurtured, ultimately enhancing our well-being. In this talk, we’ll explore how to tap into the reservoir of kindness and compassion within to diminish our suffering and live with more peace and ease.
Insight meditation cultivates our natural wisdom and compassion. Meditation practice develops concentration, which allows us to calm and steady the mind. This class includes 1/2 hour of Vipassana meditation instruction and guided meditation followed by an hour-long dharma talk. This is a large gathering of approximately 250-300 people.
No registration is necessary. Classes are offered freely; there will be an opportunity to offer dana (a donation) at class to support the venue and teacher.
ASL (American Sign Language)-interpreting can be arranged once each month at this class. Please email IMCW at least 3 weeks in advance if you are interested in interpreting.
