Interpersonal Mindfulness: Cultivating Presence in the Relational Field

In Interpersonal Mindfulness we take our practice of mindfulness from the cushion into the relational world. What challenges us from being present are the habits of reactivity, the fast pace at which we live, and the expectations of others. Close contact with others is our greatest longing, but it can also bring us in touch with our reactivity.

In this workshop we will use gratitude practice through meditation, writing, co-listening and group experiential exercises to strengthen our ability to respond from the inside out: growing presence and deepening our connection to ourselves and others. Each person in the group becomes a teacher and healer for others, simply by their presence. It is a beautiful experience.

Comments from past participants:

“The opportunity to connect with other members of the group established a unique exploration of mindfulness in relationship. I felt inspired by the stories of other participants as well as humbled and encouraged by the intimate commonalities we identified during discussions.”

~ Mary

“We had game changing insights, influencing our current reality. We were amazed how powerful the shifts were.”

IMCW retreats and workshops offer instruction in Buddhist meditation and talks on the awakening of our natural insight, love and wisdom. While the meditation practices derive from the Buddhist tradition, they are universal in orientation and address spiritual themes of concern to all contemplative traditions.

A workshop is not primarily silent (talking may be allowed during breaks and lunch) and may be focused on a special topic, such as applying meditation to relationships, emotional healing or physical well-being. Workshops may include a variety of formats, including different reflections and exercises and the sharing of experiences.
