Opening Our Hearts to Everything: A Weekend of Loving-kindness

Friday, May 29-Sunday, May 31

This silent retreat will focus on cultivating the qualities of loving kindness (metta in Pali), infusing our hearts, minds and bodies with a strong caring wisdom. We will tenderly explore our capacity to transform suffering through practices of loving-kindness and awareness. Loving-kindness practices open the heart, allow a kind embrace of ourselves, opening to the freedom that is always available.

On this retreat loving-kindness practices will be supported by periods of guided instruction, talks, mindful movement, and walking meditation.

The retreat center is committed to using green technology, and most of its excellent organic cuisine is made from fresh, local produce.

During our retreat, we’ll be using a sunny, peaceful, air-conditioned meditation hall inside the center.

Rooms are multiple-occupancy/”dorm”, with 2-4 twin beds and shared bathrooms; however we will assign mostly double occupancy. Camping is available. The barn’s basic and rustic rooms include towels, sheets, pillows, and blankets for guests.

Meals are served buffet style and are lacto-ovo vegetarian with vegan or gluten-free options. Meal clean-up (washing dishes, sweeping), making and stripping beds, and bell-ringing will be required yogi duties.

This retreat is offered as fragrance-free as possible, so please do not bring or use any products with “parfum” or “fragrance” in the ingredients.

This venue is not accessible for those with mobility impairments.

In order to nurture a sense of stillness and deep listening, silence will be maintained throughout the retreat, as we experience a variety of dharma talks, silent and guided meditations, and walking meditation on the grounds.

Check-in will begin at 4 p.m. Friday and the retreat starts at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the retreat will end at approximately noon followed by lunch.

Please find more information about retreats in our Blog/Residential Retreat Information.
