This 8-week, on-line, course will give you an opportunity to become familiar with basic techniques, concepts and applicable skills of Mindfulness Meditation. Instructions will be given in various postures and practices including; sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, gentle movement and interactive mindful communication practices.
Most classes include a session of restorative, deep relaxation in the reclining posture which many find an important prerequisite prior to establishing and sustaining an individualized daily meditation practice.
This course blends a secular approach to teaching meditation with traditional language from the dharma exploring how meditation not only lowers stress levels but also restores a sense of balance in our busy lives. While the classes are shorter than those in a traditional MBSR course, the same fundamentals are explored so that over the eight weeks, students can cultivate a genuinely enjoyable relationship with their meditation practice, both on and off the cushion!
You will be encouraged to log on while sitting in a comfortable chair, but have some space nearby for both gentle movement and reclining.
Newcomers are warmly welcomed. We aspire to create a safe, supportive community, and welcome everyone with an interest in meditation, regardless of identity, orientation or background.
