Insight meditation cultivates our natural wisdom and compassion. It develops concentration, which calms and steadies the mind, and also understanding, which helps us relate to life in a healthier way.
Class begins with a brief optional chant, followed by a half hour guided meditation and dharma talk. We usually end with time for questions and sharing. Our diverse group of teachers is united by a love of finding practical wisdom for our daily lives within the traditional Buddhist teachings.
We aspire to create a safe, supportive community, and welcome everyone with an interest in meditation, regardless of identity, orientation or background. Join us for a “first Sunday” of the month, when all are invited to stay after class to share a cup of tea, meet and chat.
We meet almost every week of the year, except for weather emergencies and some major holidays (see the schedule below). No registration is necessary for any of our classes, and newcomers are always welcome.
Chairs, yoga blankets and bolsters are available in the studio, or bring your own sitting gear.
