Coming Home to Wholeness: Women’s Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Retreat

During this half-day retreat, we’ll take refuge in the support of our meditation practice, the gathered community of women, and the beauty of the natural world. We’ll practice in a way that honors the complex emotions many are feeling at this time, and encourages the mindfulness, resilience and self-compassion needed to stay present with ourselves as we move through a world in flux. We'll practice (re)connecting to ourselves in a spirit of kindness and friendliness--letting ourselves "be" just as we are.

You’re invited to rest and renew, ground and center--each of us to taking care of ourselves, in a community also taking care of themselves. For those wishing to go outdoors, there will be time to enjoy the serene grounds and savor the natural beauty.

The retreat format includes mindfulness and compassion meditation practices (sitting meditation, walking meditation, body scan, seeing meditation, lovingkindness meditation, self-compassion practices, and gentle mindful movement ) and an opportunity for a brief sharing at the opening and closing.

This retreat will be led in a trauma-informed manner. All gender-identified women welcome. This is a fragrance-free event. Beginners as well as experienced meditators, MBSRgrads, and MSC grads are welcome to attend. Light snacks provided. 

IMCW Retreats and Workshops

IMCW retreats and workshops offer instruction in Buddhist meditation and talks on the awakening of our natural insight, love and wisdom. While the meditation practices derive from the Buddhist tradition, they are universal in orientation and address spiritual themes of concern to all contemplative traditions.

A workshop is not primarily silent (talking may be allowed during breaks and lunch) and may be focused on a special topic, such as applying meditation to relationships, emotional healing or physical well-being. Workshops may include a variety of formats, including different reflections and exercises and the sharing of experiences.

Registration Information

Our daylongs open for registration 12 weeks in advance. Please complete a separate registration for each yogi. We want to know about each one of you!

Fees: Base $35, Mid $45, Sponsor $55

The base offering covers direct expenses for this event, including support for the teacher. Your payment at the two higher levels includes a tax-deductible donation to the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW).

Scholarships: Scholarships are available. To apply, please click the "Contact Us" button below before registering. You can also direct a donation to the scholarship fund on the registration form. Please apply early as funds are limited.

IMCW Refund Policy: $35 of the registration fee is non-refundable. If you contact the retreat manager by clicking the "Contact Us" button below three weeks before the event, the balance of your registration will be refunded. Issuing a refund check may take 2-4 weeks. If you cancel less than three weeks before your retreat begins, your full payment is forfeited.
