Intimacy with Life
Friday, October 5-Friday, October 12
Retreat check-in is between at 4:30-7 p.m. on Friday and the retreat ends at 12 noon on Friday.
Vipassana, or Buddhist meditation, is a way of opening to life and seeing clearly the totality of one’s being and experience. The practice is based on cultivating a present-centered mindfulness, leading to an unfolding of our natural wisdom and compassion.
The focus of this retreat is to enhance intimacy with ourselves and the world. In order to help participants discover a sense of stillness and deep listening, silence will be maintained throughout the retreat except during question/answer periods and interviews with the teachers. In addition to sitting and walking meditation practice, there will be sessions of mindful movement led each day by Jonathan Foust.
This is a silent meditation retreat held in noble silence; it is not an interactive workshop.
Meals at the Pearlstone Retreat Center are lacto-ovo vegetarian. Please note on your registration if you have any special dietary restrictions.
Please find more information about retreats in our Resource section/Residential Retreat Information.

Registration opens Thursday, June 7. We will run the lottery three weeks later, on Thursday, June 28. We will inform you of the results by July 12. A deposit is required to register for the retreat lottery.
If you are not granted a space through the lottery, you will be placed on the waiting list. If you do not want to remain on the waiting list, please contact your retreat manager and your deposit will be refunded in full.
All prices include meals and shared bathrooms.
50% deposit required: You have the option of paying the full fee upfront or making a 50% deposit to reserve your place at the retreat, with balance due upon arrival.
Dana: In keeping with the Buddhist tradition, the teachers and retreat managers receive no payment. The above cost covers room and board only. Donations offered by students at the end of the retreat are appreciated and support the teachers and retreat managers in continuing to make the teachings available to all. Dana offerings are tax-deductible.
Scholarships: Scholarships are available. To apply, please register and choose the "Pay by Check" option if you are unable to pay a deposit at this time. Then submit the Scholarship Application (find here) to Anne Adams Green, Administrator. You will be notified of the award amount via email. If you still need to pay your deposit to IMCW, you will be sent instructions on how to make a payment. Please apply early as funds are limited. You can also direct a donation to the scholarship fund on the registration form.
IMCW Refund Policy: If you cancel more than four weeks before the start of the retreat, your deposit will be refunded minus a $50 administrative fee. We cannot offer refunds for cancellations made less than four weeks before the retreat unless we are able to fill your space. If we are able to fill your space, the administrative fee will be $100 and the balance will be refunded. There is no refund if you decide to leave the retreat early. You have the option to receive a refund check or to offer the balance of the registration fee as a tax-deductible donation to the IMCW Scholarship Fund. Please contact us to specify your preferences.
Accessibility: For disability-related accommodations, please note any special accessibility needs in the comments section of the registration form.
Please note: If you are in the midst of a life trauma, emotional upheaval or instability that might require individual support beyond our scheduled meetings with teachers, the retreat format may not be a good match at this time. Should you have any questions about this, please contact the retreat manager listed.
