Hardwiring Calm:  Connecting to the Present Moment

This retreat will identify and practice methods offered by Rick Hansen in his book, Hardwiring Happiness. The acronym HEAL will be explained and explored to help us find calm in our lives.

The focus of this retreat is uncovering and connecting to the calm and peace that is already there. We will cultivate and discover the value of stillness to help us rest in the present moment. Practices and methods will be offered to help us see clearly, release patterns of holding, and to strengthen our connection to all of life.

Exploring mindfulness techniques we will offer ways to find calm and peace through relationship and connection with the present moment. In mindfulness practice, we can learn to take action and relate to the world around us in more skillful ways. Time will alternate between sits, talks, and sharing.

IMCW Retreats and Workshops

IMCW retreats and workshops offer instruction in Buddhist meditation and talks on the awakening of our natural insight, love and wisdom. While the meditation practices derive from the Buddhist tradition, they are universal in orientation and address spiritual themes of concern to all contemplative traditions.

A workshop is not primarily silent (talking may be allowed during breaks and lunch) and may be focused on a special topic, such as applying meditation to relationships, emotional healing or physical well-being. Workshops may include a variety of formats, including different reflections and exercises and the sharing of experiences.
