- 6:00 PM at Royal Thai Embassy, (1024 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 20007) (Map It)
Meditation and Dharma (Teaching) Talk
The Venerable Ajahn Sumedho is a seminal figure in the transmission of Buddha’s teachings to the West, has served as a monastic since 1967, and was the abbot of Amaravati Buddhist Monastery in the UK from its founding in 1984 until his retirement in 2010. Having trained in the Thai Forest Tradition under the Venerable Ajahn Chah, Ajahn Sumedho has come to be considered his most influential Western disciple.
Sumedho is visiting the Washington, DC region for the first time at the personal invitation of the Thai Ambassador. This is a rare and special opportunity to sit and participate in a discussion with this esteemed teacher.
In keeping with the monastic tradition, this dharma talk is offered on a dana (donation) basis, to be offered at the time of the event. Registration is required as there is limited seating at the Thai Embassy.
This facility is handicapped-accessible.
Street parking is available, and public parking lots are nearby. Buses run to Georgetown, but Metro does not.
Click on the menu Teachers page for teacher biographies, events and (where available) talks.
