This special introductory class is being offered for anyone interested in learning more about the upcoming 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction workshops. Stan's next 8-week MBSR course begins on September 24.
In this introductory class you will learn about some of the principles of mindfulness, explore how mindfulness might assist in stress reduction, and practice both formal and informal mindfulness meditation.
Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction is an intimate and intensive 8-week course designed to help you establish your own unique mindfulness practice, teach you techniques that can help reduce physical and emotional symptoms made worse by stress, and increase your peace and quality of life.
The classes are modeled after the ones offered at the Stress Reduction Clinic developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. This 30-year-old program is highly respected in the medical community, and has been featured on PBS in Bill Moyers’ documentary, "Healing and the Mind" (seen by more than 40 million people,) the Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC’s Dateline, ABC’s Evening News, and hundreds of newspapers and magazine articles. *In February 2014 it was featured on the cover of Time Magazine.
