Waking Up in Real Life:  Practices for Mind, Body and Heart

Friday, April 6-Sunday, April 8

"May we exist like the lotus, at home in the muddy water."

How do we bring the expansive qualities of mind, body and heart that we cultivate on the cushion into the messy and often difficult places -- the "muddy water" -- in which we find ourselves, and our world? How do we abide in peace, joy and equanimity in the middle of real life?

This silent Vipassana meditation retreat will focus on teachings and practices for mind, body and heart that are both imminently practical, and deeply sacred. There will be periods of sitting and walking meditation, as well as opportunities for daily mindful movement.

We invite you to join us as we sit with these questions together in supportive community at the beautiful Sevenoaks Retreat Center. Comfortable rooms, 200 acres of walking trails and delicious homemade meals provide a truly special environment for this practice.

Event Times:

Check-in begins @ 4 p.m. on Friday (arrive by 6 p.m.); retreat ends at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

This venue is not accessible for wheelchairs.

Please find more information about retreats in our Resource section/Residential Retreat Information.

You can also direct a donation to the scholarship fund on the registration form.

We cannot offer refunds for cancellations made less than four weeks before the retreat unless we are able to fill your space. If we are able to fill your space, the administrative fee will be $100 and the balance will be refunded. There is no refund if you decide to leave the retreat early. You have the option to receive a refund check or to offer the balance of the registration fee as a tax-deductible donation to the IMCW Scholarship Fund. Please contact us to specify your preferences.

Accessibility: For disability-related accommodations, please note any special accessibility needs in the comments section of the registration form.

Please note: If you are in the midst of a life trauma, emotional upheaval or instability that might require individual support beyond our scheduled meetings with teachers, the retreat format may not be a good match at this time.
