The Embodied Self: Living in the Heart of the World

FULL DAY attendance  (10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.)

The best use of time is to discover the timeless in ourselves. However, our culture has us so busy and scheduled that we have lost our awareness of this timeless dimension of our being. Our minds lack inner space and freedom, as we are cramped by our to-do lists, judgments, expectations, and daily pressures. It is when we feel this discomfort that we finally say to ourselves: "There's got to be a better way." This realization transforms our stress into a sacred opportunity.

We do not need to escape to a mountaintop to reclaim our inner peace and balance. There are powerful tools at our disposal that are designed to alleviate our sense of strain and struggle -- all while in the midst of our daily life. Indeed, through mindfulness, we can fulfill our responsibilities and relationships with even greater harmony and ease.

This retreat will offer healing tools that develop mindfulness, harmony in the body, and expansiveness of Heart. This retreat is open to all levels of experience.

IMCW Retreats and Workshops

IMCW retreats and workshops offer instruction in Buddhist meditation and talks on the awakening of our natural insight, love and wisdom. While the meditation practices derive from the Buddhist tradition, they are universal in orientation and address spiritual themes of concern to all contemplative traditions.

A workshop is not primarily silent (talking may be allowed during breaks and lunch) and may be focused on a special topic, such as applying meditation to relationships, emotional healing or physical well-being. Workshops may include a variety of formats, including different reflections and exercises and the sharing of experiences.
