- 12:30 PM at IMCW Center for Mindful Living, (4708 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Upper floor, Washington, DC, 20016) (Map It)
Hugh's Sunday morning meditation group in Tenleytown, Washington, DC is for many an oasis in a busy week. It includes two 30-minute guided meditations, a period of mindful movement between sittings, and a half-hour at the end of the session to focus on a particular area of sitting or daily-life practice.
After the sitting, those with the time and inclination often adjourn to a nearby coffee shop to continue the dharma discussion or for more informal sharing or exploration of the state of the world.
Insight meditation cultivates our natural wisdom and compassion. Meditation practice develops concentration, which allows us to calm and steady the mind. This class includes 1/2 hour of Vipassana meditation instruction and guided meditation followed by an hour-long dharma talk.
No registration is necessary. These classes are offered freely. There is an opportunity to offer dana (a donation/generosity) at class to support the teacher and venue.
Newcomers to meditation and long time practitioners are welcome to attend IMCW classes. Chairs are always provided or you may bring your sitting gear.
