The Eight Worldly Conditions

Virtual | Nov 2021

In this class we explore the well-known Lokadhamma Sutta, translated as the discourse on the “Eight Worldly Conditions”, which are gain and loss, praise and criticism, fame and disgrace, pleasure and pain. We might usually find these “worldly winds” to be enchanting or distressing. As the Buddha points out, they often come to “occupy our mind.” But in the discourse, the Buddha encourages us to reflect on and understand them, see them as impermanent and subject the change.
