Rashid is a certified mindfulness teacher (Engaged Mindfulness Institute), a certified yoga teacher (Silk Road Yoga Sangha), a trauma technique tapper (Peaceful Heart Network) and a restorative justice specialist (Restorative DC).
Mindfulness provides Rashid a way of being fully engaged with his daily experiences, inner fears, and uncomfortable emotions, compassionately and without self-criticism. In 2019, Rashid co-founded the Heart Refuge Mindfulness Community, a mindfulness community in Washington, DC, dedicated to inspiring people of color to live with love and courage.
Rashid is currently completing the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program with Tara Brach & Jack Kornfield and he is participant in the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader teacher training program (CDL 6 cohort). As a restorative justice specialist, Rashid facilitates an alternative approach and process to handling conflicts, addressing misbehavior, holding discussions, and repairing harm in communities throughout the Washington, DC area.
Rashid is devoted to helping all people rediscover well-being and fulfillment through learning how to live more compassionately towards themselves and their world.
