For parents, grandparents, and guardians with children in grades kindergarten through 5th grade (other ages welcome).
The Family Mindfulness Classes offer children a mindfulness framework to develop healthy responses to the ever-changing world around and inside of them. Age-appropriate and engaging techniques for bringing the mindfulness practices of presence and compassion into daily life are shared. In the spirit of play and curiosity, the class offers tools for exploring one’s inner life, cultivating resilience and emotional regulation, deepening one's respect for self, others, and nature, and realizing one's innate capacity for kindness and compassion.
Planting these seeds at an early age can reduce stress as well as sustain and nourish the mind, body and spirit for a lifetime. Classes include short meditations, movement exercises, dialogue, music, lessons on basic Buddhist mindfulness teachings, and crafts geared towards cultivating mindfulness. Adults will have an opportunity for a parent-led sit and discussion for a portion of class time.
Parents and guardians attend the classes with their children. The teachers offer this class based on dana (donations), with a suggested donation of $20 per child. Please bring a healthy-ish snack to share. This is a drop-in class; no registration is required. No mindfulness experience is necessary. Chairs are always provided or you may bring your sitting gear. This venue is accessible for those with mobility impairments.

The IMCW Family Program aspires to bring alive the mindfulness toolkit for families and teens in engaging and practical ways via our classes, daylongs, & retreats. Grandparents, parents, guardians and children in kindergarten through eighth grade interested in cultivating greater compassion, presence, and resilience in everyday life are encouraged to participate. Founded in 2000, our program is run by families, for families. As families are the soil in which the future is planted. we are passionate about what we do.
