A Meditation Daylong for the LGBTIQ Community

From the poet ee cummings: “To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else -- means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.”

As LGBTIQ people in this country at this time in history, we are often at risk at to lose our civil rights, validation of our relationships, our families and friends, our livelihoods, and even our lives. At this gathering, we will cultivate a space to be seen, heard, and respected for all of who we are to support individual and collective healing.

At this daylong, we will gather together to practice insight meditation and to cultivate the “Divine Abodes” of lovingkindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity as we take refuge in our own fabulous buddhanature, the wisdom of Larry Yang’s “Directing the Mind Towards Practices in Diversity”, and our beloved sangha.

This daylong is open to beginning to advanced practitioners who identify as LGBTIQ.

This venue is accessible for those with mobility impairments. Please contact the retreat manager ("Contact Us" button, below) for more information.

Crossings is near the Red Line Metro at Silver Spring. It has free public garage parking.

IMCW retreats and workshops offer instruction in Buddhist meditation and talks on the awakening of our natural insight, love and wisdom. While the meditation practices derive from the Buddhist tradition, they are universal in orientation and address spiritual themes of concern to all contemplative traditions.

A workshop is not primarily silent (talking may be allowed during breaks and lunch) and may be focused on a special topic, such as applying meditation to relationships, emotional healing or physical well-being. Workshops may include a variety of formats, including different reflections and exercises and the sharing of experiences.
