8-Week Series, Tuesdays, February 18-April 7, 7:30-8:45 p.m.

This 8-week course will give you an opportunity to become familiar with basic techniques, concepts and applicable skills of Mindfulness Meditation. While shorter than a traditional MBSR Course, instructions will be given in various postures and practices including; sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, gentle movement and interactive "contemplative dyads". 

Most classes include a session of restorative, deep relaxation in the reclining posture which many find an important prerequisite prior to establishing and sustaining an individualized daily meditation practice. 

This course blends a secular approach to teaching meditation with traditional language from the dharma exploring how meditation not only lowers stress levels but also restores a sense of balance in our busy lives. “Over the next eight weeks, how can we learn to genuinely enjoy a meditation practice, both on and off the cushion?”

Chairs, sitting cushions, blankets, eye masks and other necessary props are provided. We suggest that whenever possible you wear or bring comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Sitting in a chair is encouraged for anyone finding the floor uncomfortable.

Please note that in order to respect group dynamics, registration closes after the 2nd class unless you have attended a previous course or have an established mindfulness meditation practice.

Parking

Dream Yoga Studio is in the McLean Professional Park in the heart of downtown McLean near Giant, Total Beverage and BB&T Bank; and directly across the street from McLean Racquet Club. Look for a red sign with the Park's name on it.

Once you turn into McLean Professional Park, turn immediate Left. (You can also go to the first stop sign and turn left.) At the T or deadend on the left side of the complex, turn right. Proceed to the end of the buildings on this lane. Dream Yoga Studio, in Building 1485, is on your right before you reach the end of this lane. Our building faces trees, offering parking facing the Studio and facing away. Park in any open space. Go down the last set of steps of the building to the right. Suite 104 is the second door on the left. The studio name is printed above the door.

Metro

The closest Metro is East Falls Church Orange line at 2001 N. Sycamore St., Arlington, VA 22205. You will need a ride from the station to the Studio.
