Everyday Bardos: Living Through Transition, Uncertainty, and Loss

Trisha and Deborah Trisha Stotler Online via Zoom

Trisha Stotler

5/16/2020 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM  at  Online via Zoom (.) (Map It)

We'll all experience times of great upheaval in life; a life event, illness or loss that plunges us straight into the unknown. In addition to being scary, these periods of groundlessness can set the stage for profound personal and spiritual growth. In this daylong retreat, we'll engage with some of the classical Buddhist teachings on working with the difficulty of being in transition -- emotionally, mentally and physically.

We'll practice together with a combination of guided and silent sitting meditation, walking meditation, short talks, and structured reflective writing. Participants will spend the majority of the retreat in silence, with opportunities for sharing at the start and close of the day.

Newcomers are warmly welcomed. We aspire to create a safe, supportive community, and welcome everyone with an interest in meditation, regardless of identity, orientation or background.

IMCW retreats and workshops offer instruction in Buddhist meditation and talks on the awakening of our natural insight, love and wisdom. While the meditation practices derive from the Buddhist tradition, they are universal in orientation and address spiritual themes of concern to all contemplative traditions.

A workshop is not primarily silent (talking may be allowed during breaks and lunch) and may be focused on a special topic, such as applying meditation to relationships, emotional healing or physical well-being. Workshops may include a variety of formats, including different reflections and exercises and the sharing of experiences.
