1/20/2021 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (ET/U.S. & Canada)  at  Online via Zoom (Virtual) (Map It)

We come together for this on-line Inauguration Day Metta (Lovingkindness) Retreat in the spirit of inclusiveness and community, to aid in co-creating the awake and compassionate world we’d like to live in.

This retreat is specially timed so that we can ground and center ourselves through mindfulness practices prior to the noon swearing-in ceremony, and provide a steady stream of loving well-wishes through Metta practice prior to, during, and after the Inauguration event takes place. There will be time mindful eating lunch from noon – 1 p.m. for those who wish to view the proceedings in their own home (instructions will be offered), and we will also keep the Metta practices flowing in the retreat space for those who wish to do so. We'll rest and renew, ground and center--each of us to taking care of ourselves, in a supportive community of others also taking care of themselves. We’ll add to the flow of well wishes for our communities, our world leaders, our county, and ourselves.

The retreat format includes a variety of mindfulness and compassion meditation practices (sitting meditation, walking meditation, “compassionate” body scan, loving-kindness/Metta meditation, compassion for self and others, gentle mindful movement, and mindful eating), short talks, and optional brief sharing.

This retreat will be led in a trauma-informed manner. Those new to meditation as well as experienced meditators are welcome.

Note: Because this is an online retreat, participants are encouraged to find space of relative quiet, limiting the amount of interaction with others in the environment as much as possible. Participants may join by internet or via phone.

Participants will be given the Zoom link in the registration confirmation email and again via email the week before the course begins.
