Travis Spencer is a therapist, an army veteran, african drummer and a mindfulness teacher. Over the years, Travis has generously dedicated himself to serving African-Americans and communities of color through counseling families, young people, organizing drumming opportunities for kids of color, and establishing the Institute of African American Mindfulness (IAAM).
IAAM,a 501(c)3 organization, offers mindfulness and other healing practices to People of Color in Washington, DC to support healing and empower through loving-awareness, and positive perspective of self, family, and community.
Travis is a graduate of Trinity Washington University with a Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Travis fosters ongoing relationships and partnerships with MINDS Inc., EL Haynes Public Charter Schools, Run Hope, Work, Eastern High School, and Educare DC. Additionally, he is working with the board of Early Childhood Innovation Network - MedStar Georgetown (ECIN). Travis is an active board member of Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW).
