Become A Mentor
Becoming A Mentor
Mentoring is an opportunity to support others on the path by sharing the steadiness and wisdom cultivated through your own practice.
Mentors:
- Listen deeply and with care and offer clear, compassionate feedback
- Ask thoughtful questions that invite reflection
- Share insight grounded in lived experience
- Support the development of a consistent daily practice
- Recognize the limits of their role and guide mentees to appropriate resources when needed
Preliminary Criteria:
- Complete IMCW Mentor Training
- Maintain a consistent daily meditation practice (typically 2+ years)
- Have completed retreat practice (at least one residential retreat or five daylong retreats within the past two years)
- Demonstrate a sincere commitment to the Vipassana (Insight) path and supporting others
Support for Mentors
Mentors are supported through ongoing learning, including quarterly peer gatherings and opportunities for peer connection and reflection.
