View, Practice, Direct Experience

For Graduates of the YLM program

Spiritual practice is meant to take you on a journey with a clear map that enables you to progress along the path with a steady aim, free of doubts or confusion, and confident that you will not only attain your aims in life but help remove the miseries of others.

  • How can this journey be made by a contemporary person in the midst of a busy life?
  • What are the practices that can be relied upon to bring healing and growth?
  • What does it mean to truly awaken in daily life?

This daylong workshop explores these questions through experiential activities including movement, yogic breathing, meditation, and small group work. It builds on the teachings presented at the YLMx July 2018 daylong and 45-minute audio review of the 2018 daylong session will be available to all registrants. (Participation in the 2018 daylong is not required; however, completion of the YLM program is a prerequisite.)

The daylong will take place at the Carderock Springs clubhouse from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., please plan to arrive early to settle in.  Chairs, beverages and basic nourishment will be provided, so bring your sitting gear, lunch (especially if you have special dietary needs) and a dish to share, if you are so moved.

This venue is not accessible for those with mobility impairments.

IMCW retreats and workshops offer instruction in Buddhist meditation and talks on the awakening of our natural insight, love and wisdom. While the meditation practices derive from the Buddhist tradition, they are universal in orientation and address spiritual themes of concern to all contemplative traditions.

A workshop is not primarily silent (talking may be allowed during breaks and lunch) and may be focused on a special topic, such as applying meditation to relationships, emotional healing or physical well-being. Workshops may include a variety of formats, including different reflections and exercises and the sharing of experiences.
