Returning to Our True Nature: A Retreat for Young Adults (18-32)

Thursday, July 2-Sunday, July 5

This retreat will provide a mix of traditional silent meditation practice and relational mindfulness practices in the nurturing landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Together, we will take refuge from the busyness and chaos of our lives to return home to ourselves through the profound teachings of the dharma and reconnecting with the earth. Retreat is a rare and precious opportunity to remember who we are, what matters most, and how to then engage in the world with a clear and steady mind and a generous and compassionate heart to alleviate suffering and cultivate true happiness for the benefit of all beings.

This retreat is suitable for complete beginners and experienced meditators. All are welcome to spend this extended weekend cultivating a sense of deeper connection and belonging within yourself, with others, and within the natural world.

Sevenoaks Retreat Center is located on 120 acres of secluded forest land in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with ample walking trails in the woods and gardens.

The property is expansive, largely wooded, bordered by the Rapidan River, and surrounded by outstanding views of the Blue Ridge mountains. Shamans who have regularly visited Sevenoaks describe the land as “spiritually seasoned.” Simply put, it feels good to be at Sevenoaks.

The featured building is Lighthouse, which offers a spacious, light-filled 52-foot-diameter circular meeting space and meditation hall – with beautiful views and resting spots on the 2nd-story circular porch.

Located in Central Virginia, Sevenoaks is easily accessible by car from large cities and airports, reachable in about 90 minutes from Winchester, less than two hours from Washington D.C., 75 minutes from Richmond, or 30 minutes from Charlottesville.

This venue is accessible for those with mobility impairments.

Sevenoaks offers gourmet dining, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian menus, and can accommodate most special dietary needs. Whenever possible, the retreat center cooks with fresh ingredients from its organic garden.

Check-in begins @ 4 p.m. on Thursday; retreat ends at 1 p.m. the following Sunday with lunch served at 12:30 p.m.
