Second Sunday Dharma Series
The Inner Work of Racial Justice: Healing Ourselves and Transforming Our Communities Through Mindfulness
University of San Francisco Law professor and mindfulness practitioner Rhonda Magee joins us to talk about her new book “The Inner Work of Racial Justice: Healing Ourselves and Transforming Our Communities Through Mindfulness”. When conflict and division are everyday realities, our instincts tell us to close ranks, to find the safety of our own tribe, and to blame others. The practice of embodied mindfulness–paying attention to our thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations in an open, nonjudgmental way–increases our emotional resilience, helps us to recognize our unconscious bias, and gives us the space to become less reactive and to choose how we respond to injustice.
In this session, she talks with IMCW teacher Trish Magyari about how we can use these tools to look closely at our own reactivity on a path to healing.

IMCW has invited a series of world-renowned teachers to join us for an informal virtual gathering, where they’ll share what’s on their mind and alive in their personal practice. IMCW teachers will moderate the sessions, which might range from an informal conversation, to a dharma talk and Q&A with the audience. Sessions will begin and end with a centering meditation.

This special series is being offered in the spirit of generosity. You must register for each session in advance, and will be asked to make a donation that aligns with your circumstances. No one will be turned away for financial reasons. You will receive a link to that month’s live webinar, and each participant will receive a link afterwards to the recording (which will be available for 90 days).
We appreciate your generosity. Proceeds from these events will support a variety of IMCW programs, including our scholarship and Larry Yang BIPOC Fund. An option is available so that none may be turned away, but participants are strongly encouraged to make a donation by registering for a Zoom link below.
IMCW aspires to create a safe, supportive community. We welcome everyone with an interest in meditation, regardless of identity, orientation or background.
