Deepening Practice with the Five Invitations

Rebecca Hines Online, Zoom

Rebecca Hines

1/19/2021 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM (Tuesdays, ET/U.S. and Canada)  at  Online, Zoom (Virtual) (Map It)
Tuesday evenings, January 19-April 27

In this weekly class, using “The Five Invitations” by Frank Ostaseski, we’ll explore how greater awareness and appreciation of the truth of impermanence and death can wake us up out of suffering. These simple and profound invitations show how to be more fully present, less identified with fixed ideas about ourselves and about life. Frank writes “these five bottomless practices…can be continually explored and deepened. They have little value as theories. To be understood, they have to be lived into and realized through action.”

Weekly sessions will include meditation, reflection on the teachings, and small group discussion. In between, you’ll have the opportunity to explore deepening understanding of each invitation in the moments of daily life, to discover what happens when you choose to let go of old patterns and be fully present for “this being human.”

This gently paced series is organized to track with “The Five Invitations.” Participants will be invited to take in and savor an unhurried read of the book as we explore integrating the teachings and practices both on and off the cushion.

Co-sponsored with Blue Heron Wellness in Silver Spring, MD.
