Enhanced Experience with Mantra, Breathing, Mindful Movement and Meditation in Sangha

In the yogic philosophy, chanting mantra is a powerful way to bring body and consciousness into harmony. Pranayama (yogic breathing) is a way to enhance the mind/body experience and our overall well-being – now confirmed by medical science. Full awareness of the breath can decrease blood pressure, reduce stress hormones, release endorphins and assist us in resting in presence.

During our time together we will have some mindful movement and deep relaxation, and will explore various yogic breathing techniques to enhance vocal production, to “own your Om” so to speak. Vocal vibration in the body, in conjunction with conscious breathing, stimulates sensory receptors signaling a response that increases vagal “tone”, which has many positive effects. We will be chanting some basic mantras, working to develop a clearer understanding of vocal technique and attempting to demystify the practice of chanting, to feel more confident and comfortable using the voice in our meditation and asana practice.

We will have some time in community, sharing each other’s discoveries which will inspire you! Our aspiration is for you to leave the session in a blissful state of connectedness.

Note: Because this is an online retreat, participants are encouraged to find space of relative quiet, limiting the amount of interaction with others in the environment as much as possible. Participants may join by internet or via phone. 

Participants will be given the Zoom link in the registration confirmation email and again via email the week before the course begins.

Registration

The base offering covers direct expenses for this event, including support for the teacher. Your payment at the two higher levels includes a tax-deductible donation to the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW).

Scholarships

Scholarships are available. To apply, please email the retreat manager before registering. You can also direct a donation to the scholarship fund on the registration form. Please apply early as funds are limited.

IMCW Refund Policy

If you cancel more than two weeks before the start of the event, your payment will be refunded minus a $15 administrative fee. IMCW cannot offer refunds for cancellations made fewer than 2 weeks before the beginning of the event. It may take 5-7 days for the refund to show in your account. 

Late Registration

Online registration will close at 12 a.m. the day before the retreat. To request late registration, please email the retreat manager to check if there are still openings.
