Gene Kijowski

Gene is a 2013 graduate of the Meditation Teacher Training Institute (MTTI) and a student of Tara Brach.

He brings a rich experience and commitment to personal growth and healing in the areas of family, community, business and K12 education. He teaches from a passion for mindfulness practice and a deep conviction about its ability to support transformation and relieve suffering.

As a dedicated member of the IMCW community Gene has participated in the Insight-on-the-Inside (I-O-I) prison Dharma program since its inception in 2009, is a member of the Board of Directors, leads the sharing/discussion group after the weekly Wednesday night Dharma talk, and is a mentor in the Mentoring Program. In 2012, along with Hugh Byrne, he started the Center for Mindful Living and currently serves as volunteer manager.

A meditator since 2003 he has attended five residential silent retreats, numerous day-long retreats, completed the UMass Center for Mindfulness 7-day Professional Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training in Mind-Body Medicine with Jon Kabat-Zinn, and completed the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute three-year SE Professional Training (Advanced Level).
