Dear friend,

Simply put, Right Understanding, the first limb of the Eightfold Path, helps us grasp on a visceral level what leads to suffering and what leads to freedom.
–Trisha Stotler, IMCW Teacher

The notion that one could free oneself through the dedicated training of mind and heart was a radical teaching in the Buddha’s time, as it challenged the prevailing social hierarchy that served the elites of the day. The Buddha’s own sangha underwent profound structural changes, including greater equality among men and women, the abolition of the caste system, and the practice of nonviolence. More than 2,600 years later, these teachings continue to reach across time and speak directly to us as we navigate the uncertainty and suffering of our own tumultuous world today.

At IMCW, we carry these teachings forward by making them accessible and relevant to our lives today. Our teachers bring the Dharma alive through classes, retreats, and communities of practice—both in person and online. And because financial circumstances should never be a barrier to practice, your support provides scholarships, sustains dana-based offerings, and helps subsidize teachers serving communities with limited resources. Your generosity keeps the path open, ensuring that all who seek the teachings and the support of sangha have a place to practice.

Meditation can feel like a solitary endeavor, but practicing with others, sharing honestly our joys and struggles as we explore the Eightfold Path, is what transforms a group of individuals into a true sangha.

That kind of community doesn’t simply happen. We create it together. Your generosity makes it possible for IMCW to offer the teachings, practices, retreats, classes, and community that help all of us see more clearly and live with greater wisdom and compassion. Please consider making a gift to IMCW today. Whatever amount is meaningful to you, your generosity helps ensure that these teachings—and this community of practice—remain available to everyone seeking a path toward greater freedom.
