IMCW Tackles the Pandemic October 13, 2020By Editor announcement, COVID-19 At a time when we all need community and mindfulness practice, IMCW has been delighted to welcome so many members who live out of the area to our new online, Zoom classes – people from as close as Pennsylvania, and as far away as Chicago, Seattle, Albuquerque, Canada, Great Britain, Portugal, India, Brazil, Japan and Australia. Students who have moved away, students who have listened to our audio dharma but couldn’t attend classes due to distance, family and work obligations, illness or other reasons, have been able to join the daytime and evening classes IMCW offer each week. I value the sense of community and that it feels like everyone matters. IMCW welcomed 36% more visitors from the U.S. between February and August of this year, and 153% more international visitors. The overall percentage of visitors from the U.S. dropped slightly, but the percentage of visitors from countries such as Canada, the U.K. and Australia had jumped as much as 114% -- and 64% overall internationally. We know that the continuing pandemic has been stressful for everyone and devasting for many. With over 60 teachers with over 50 classes, affinity sanghas (communities), and retreats online every week on the IMCW calendar, we hope you can find a teacher and a sangha where you feel at home. Our classes are offered freely (donations are welcome to support the teachers and IMCW) and on a drop-in basis. So come when you can and pay what you're able. We welcome everyone. Find out more in our upcoming Annual Report. May you be held in the heart of lovingkindness May you be free from inner and outer harm May you be well May you have ease of well-being May your life be of service to all beings May you come to know great and natural peace May you awaken and be free.` See the IMCW website Calendar for all of our online events.
